How to find backlinks of a website?
Backlinks are a constant in the field of SEO. Without incoming links, it will be very difficult (not to say impossible) to obtain interesting positions and to make your website known . It is therefore preferable to know your profile of incoming links to succeed in netlinking.
There are several analysis tools on the market to allow you to see your backlinks and their potential. If not all are equal, some are really interesting and worth the money invested.
? so, how to see backlinks of a website
What is a backlink?
A backlink is also called an “incoming link”; it is an HTML link from another site pointing to your domain. Since the beginning of Google, backlinks have been very important and are one of the most important criteria of the algorithm, to determine the ranking of sites.
It is therefore essential to accumulate as much as possible (and of good quality). If a poor quality backlink points to a site, the target site (the one receiving the link) will risk a penalty. (cf penguin algorithm)

Why see the backlinks of a site?
If you do not know why it is important to know the backlinks of a site. Here are some scenarios.
Your competitor has overtaken you: Seeing the backlinks of a site will also allow you to carry out a competitive analysis. You can observe the entry and exit of links on a domain (eg a competitor) and why not take inspiration from it (if the context allows it).
You have received a penalty: Knowing the backlinks of a site will also help you to carry out a netlinking audit and to get out of a penalty . Backlink audits are carried out when the site strangely does not take off when it already has lots of links or during a Google Penguin penalty. If the site has received a penguin or manual sanction, it is essential to carry out this kind of analysis under penalty of being excluded from the engines.
In short, a link analysis tool will allow you above all not to move forward in the fog in optimizing your campaigns.
How to see the backlinks of his site?
As I said, there are several tools to see the incoming links of a site. Here are my favorites and the ones I recommend. For me, these are the best on the market.
How to view and find backlinks for a website?
1. Ahrefs
Ahref is an interesting tool. Originally designed as a simple link analysis tool. It has diversified over time and can help you develop the analysis of your SEO campaigns. This tool now goes beyond simple netlinking analysis. The tool offers you content analysis, keyword research, etc.
But its main strength lies in its ability to analyze links. Unlike other tools like Open SiteExplorer, Ahrefs updates its database daily. In this way we can know the links that are created on our domain almost in real time.
The + of Ahrefs
– a pleasant and very intuitive graphical interface
– A very substantial index of backlinks
– Ability to set up an alert when a new backlink points to the domain
it is paid and does not offer a free version

2. Majestic
Majestic SEO is one of the heavy hitters in the SEO industry. It is the tool with the largest index and it is without context a serious reference in the field.
The information we will obtain with this tool will be classified into 3 metrics:
- The "Trust flow" (or confidence index): Indicates the score from 0 to 100. This measurement emphasizes the quality of the incoming link according to the quality and reliability of all the links that the domain carrying the link already acquired . Thus, websites linked to reliable sources will tend to have a higher score than sites linked to sites of dubious origin.
Use the Trust Flow with caution : The Trust Flow is an index that is quite easy to manipulate. I see a lot of customers trusting only this simple index in their link buying campaign. A site with a strong Trust Flow may not have traffic for example. A site with strong trust flow is not necessarily an absolute guarantee of quality
- The Citation Flow is an indicator that assigns a score, also between 0 and 100, based on the number of links pointing to a given web page. A site with a high CF will have more “juice” to transmit . A site without CF already has a lot of outbound links. So you have to be careful.
- Topical Trust Flow: It is a thematized trust flow which allows to know the theme of the links which connects the site. A TF in business will therefore be useful for SME sites. This metric is also based on a 0-100 rating system that indicates a website's influence on a topic, category, or industry.
In addition to these measures, Majestic also provides information on different domains such as the number of external backlinks (in the form of a list), the amount of referring domains, the number of indexed URLs or precise information on the anchors of connections.
The tool is paid for in the form of a subscription, but the publisher offers you a browser plugin allowing you to retrieve summary information for free.

3. Open site Explorer
Created by SEOMoz, this tool allows us to carry out a study of incoming links or backlinks from other sites to our site, to know the relationship between external and internal links, to know the anchor text or the links that point to our page and, of course, to know the values of Domain Authority and Page Authority of our site.
The +: Created by MOZ (a reference in the field of SEO)

Other ways to know how to see backlinks to my website
The 3 tools above are excellent for seeing the backlinks of your site and analyzing them. However, the analysis will not be complete without taking a look at SEMRUSH. This tool is hands down one of my favorites. It will allow you to have an overview of the traffic and positions generated by the site . I often start from the principle that a site which does not make positions, nor traffic, is not very well seen by Google.
I'm not saying that a domain with good metrics (eg a strong trust flow + Domain Authority) will not pass juice, but that it is better to rely on a site that is already making positions, to avoid unpleasant surprises. Indeed, a site with good metrics can come from an expired domain.
